Fantasy Magazine Relaunch

Sean Markey has announced the relaunch of Fantasy Magazine, with the first issue scheduled to publish June 1, 2025. Fantasy will be joining sibling magazine The Deadlands under the Psychopomp publishing umbrella. Sean has named Arley Sorg and Shingai Njeri Kagunda as co-Editors-in-Chief.

Fantasy Magazine will publish original short fiction, flash fiction, and poetry on a quarterly basis. Subscriptions will be available to support the magazine, which will also provide content via email delivery, epub, and free online after release to subscribers.

“Kagunda and Sorg both bring engaging visions and eclectic, sharp sensibilities to the field, as well as a history of positive involvement in the genre community.” The magazine plans to open to submissions from January 22-29, 2025. Pay rates will be 10 cents per word for original short fiction, including flash fiction, and $50 per poem. For submission guidelines, visit the Fantasy website.

Fantasy previously launched in 2020 with Adamant Press as publisher, as sibling magazine to Lightspeed and Nightmare. It ran until October 2023 and garnered many accolades, including landing editors Arley Sorg and Christie Yant as World Fantasy Award finalists twice, and Locus Award finalists three times.
