Trent Zelazny (1976-2024)

Author Trent Zelazny, 48, died on November 28, 2024 of acute liver failure.

The son of SF writer Roger Zelazny, he began publishing short SF in 1999, and went on to produce over 30 stories, with some collected in The Day the Leash Gave Way and Other Stories (2009). He also edited anthology Mirages: Tales from Authors of the Macabre (2012) and co-edited Shadows & Reflections: A Roger Zelazny Tribute Anthology (2017, with Warren Lapine).

Jonathan Zelazny was born November 28, 1976 in Santa Fe NM, where he also grew up. He was a musician, playing in local bands, and worked at a video store for ten years, indulging his love for film. He was also an artist, and worked for a time at an animation compnay. He married Caiti Case in 1995, and they had a son, Corwin; the two later divorced. Trent relocated to Florida, where he struggled with alcoholism, but went into rehab and became serious about martial arts and writing. He also spoke openly about his struggles and worked to support others in difficult circumstances. He worked at the Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe in addition to writing.

He is survived by his son, brother Devin, and sister Shannon. For more, see his obituary.
