In its first month of release, The Spellshop, Sarah Beth Durst’s new cozy standalone fantasy, stormed the hardcover list, taking first place with a commanding lead over our second-place finisher Rebeca Yarros’s Iron Flame. Our new runner-up was The Daughters’ War (Tor), the second book in Christopher Buehlman’s The Blacktongue Thief series. We had 51 titles nominated this month, down from 60 last month.
Brandon Sanderson claimed the top two slots on our paperback list this month, with Mistborn in first and The Way of Kings in second. Frank Herbert’s Dune came in third. There were no new runners-up. Fifty-six titles were nominated this month, down from last month’s 59 titles.
Sarah J. Maas continued her domination of our trade paperback list with five titles this month. A Court of Thorns and Roses remained in the top slot with A Court of Mist and Fury replacing A Court of Wings and Ruin in second. Comic fantasy How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying (Orbit US), the first book in the Dark Lord Davi series by Django Wexler, was our new runner-up. There were 73 nominated titles, up from 66 last month.
On the media and gaming-related book list only CyberPunk 2077: No Coincidence by Rafał Kosik received enough votes to make our list. There were no runners-up. We had 18 nominated titles, the same number as last month.
