DuBois Arrested

SF writer Brendan DuBois, 64, was arrested in Exeter NH on July 10, 2024, and faces six felony counts of possession of child pornogaphy. DuBois turned himself in after the arrest warrant was issued. The complaint alleges he ‘‘did knowingly possess at least 35 visual representations of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.’’ The police received a tip from Google earlier this year and executed a search warrant in May, seizing numerous items, and discovering material saved to DuBois’s Google Drive. His current publisher, Severn River Publishing, released a statement saying:

We are deeply disturbed by the serious allegations against Brendan DuBois. While we respect the legal process, we have decided to immediately suspend all promotion and sales of Mr. DuBois’ books. We believe these steps are necessary to uphold our values and maintain the trust of our readers, authors, and the publishing community.

DuBois is best known for his mystery novels and collaborations with James Patterson, but he is also a SF writer, with work including Sidewise Award winner Resurrection Day (1999) and the Alien Resistance trilogy. For more.
