Other categories include BookTok Creator of the Year, Indie Bookstore of the Year, and TikTok Shop Book of Year, which “will be decided based on TikTok Shop sales data and the impact the book has had on TikTok.”
The list is chosen by an industry panel, including TikTok CEO Jack Edwards, Publishers Association CEO Dan Conway, and Philip Jones, editor of The Bookseller. Several authors also serve as judges, including Samantha Shannon. The final winners will be voted on by TikTok users and announced July 25, 2024. TikTok says:
From #BookRecommendations to #Romantasy, #BookTok is a thriving community of literature lovers… With over 34 million posts on TikTok and counting, this community is helping to drive book sales, support independent book shops, and supercharge the careers of up-and-coming authors or previously underrepresented genres.
As part of the awards, TikTok has once again partnered with Bookshop.org. Participating indie bookstores will have the opportunity to promote winners with “bespoke TikTok Book Award destinations in-store, using graphics and official branding.”
