2024 SFRA Awards

The Science Fiction Research Association (SFRA) has announced the 2024 winners of its annual book awards.

The SFRA Award for Lifetime Contributions to SF Scholarship

  • Lisa Yaszek

The SFRA Innovative Research Award

  • Rebekah Sheldon for “Generativity without Reserve: Sterility Apocalypses and the Enclosure of Life-Itself” (Science Fiction Film and Television Vol. 16 No. 3).

Thomas D. Clareson Award for Distinguished Service

  • Jeffrey Weinstock

Mary Kay Bray Award

  • David Welch for review of Hades (SFRA Review 53.1)

SFRA Book Award

  • Fear of Seeing: A Poetics of Chinese Science Fiction, Mingwei Song (Columbia University Press)

Student Paper Award

  • “Simulated Worlds and Digital Disruptions: Gothic Glitch in The Tenth Girl”, Vicky Brewster (Swansea University)

The awards, selected by a committee of SFRA members, are given in recognition of “members of the SF community who exhibit outstanding scholarship, pioneering viewpoints in the science fiction discourse, and lifetime contributions to SF research.” Winners were announced at the SFRA conference banquet in Dresden, Germany.
