Finalists have been announced for the 2023 Los Angeles Times Book Prizes, including categories and works of genre interest.

Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction (formerly the Bradbury Prize):

  • Lone Women, Victor LaValle (One World)
  • The Fragile Threads of Power, V.E. Schwab (Tor)
  • Jewel Box: Stories, E. Lily Yu (Erewhon)

Fiction:

  • Same Bed Different Dreams, Ed Park (Random House)
  • Gone Wolf, Amber McBride (Feiwel & Friends)

Graphic Novels/Comics:

  • CODA, Simon Spurrier, illustrated by Matías Bergara (BOOM! Studios)
  • Social Fiction, Chantal Montellier (New York Review Comics)

Science & Technology:

  • A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Should We Settle Space, and Have We Really Thought This Through? Kelly Weinersmith & Zach Weinersmith (Penguin Press)

Winners will be honored at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, in a ceremony to be held April 19, 2024 at USC in Los Angeles CA. For more see the website.
