Hugo Awards Nominations Are Open
Nominations are now open for the Hugo Awards, the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book, and the Astounding Award for Best New Writer, to be presented at Glasgow 2024, A Worldcon for Our Futures, the 82nd World Science Fiction Convention, to be held August 8-12, 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland. The convention says,
The first stage, nomination, is open to anyone who has a WSFS Membership in the previous or current Worldcon as of January 31, 2024. For Glasgow 2024, this means WSFS Members of the 2023 Chengdu Worldcon and Glasgow 2024 itself. During this stage, members are able to nominate any eligible work or person.
The second stage of voting is the final ballot. This stage will be open only to Glasgow 2024 WSFS Members (including those who join after January 31, 2024). In the final ballot, members choose between the finalists in each category. The final ballot will be published by Glasgow 2024 in late March or early April 2024. At that time we will also publish the reasons for any disqualifications of potential finalists, and any withdrawals of potential finalists from the ballot.
All ballots must be received by Saturday, March 9, 2024, 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) (UTC+0).
Eligible voters may log in and nominate at the Glasgow 2024 site.
While you are here, please take a moment to support Locus with a one-time or recurring donation. We rely on reader donations to keep the magazine and site going, and would like to keep the site paywall free, but WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT to continue quality coverage of the science fiction and fantasy field.

The Hugo Awards….if there is an award that has lost almost all of it’s former prestige, the Hugo is it. As far as nominations for 2024 go, they should just save everyone some time and mail all the ballots directly to the Chinese government.
