2023 CCBC Book Awards

The Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC) has announced the winners for the 2023 CCBC Book Awards. Titles of genre interest follow.

Amy Mathers Teen Book Award

  • WINNER: As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow, Zoulfa Katouh (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers)
  • Road of the Lost, Nafiza Azad (McElderry)

Arlene Barlin Award for Science Fiction and Fantasy

  • WINNER: Blood Scion, Deborah Falaye (HarperTeen)
  • Sneaks, Catherine Egan (Knopf Books for Young Readers)
  • The Limitless Sky, Christina Kilbourne (Dundurn)
  • A Magic Steeped in Poison, Judy I. Lin (Feiwel and Friends)
  • Ghostlight, Kenneth Oppel (Puffin Canada)

Other awards categories include the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award, the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction, the Jean Little First-Novel Award, and the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People. Prizes range from C$5,000 to C$50,000.
