2023 Dayton Literary Peace Prize Finalists

Finalists have been announced for the 2023 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. The fiction category includes several titles of genre interest:

  • The Light Pirate, Lily Brooks-Dalton (Grand Central)
  • Anthem, Noah Hawley (Grand Central)
  • The Immortal King Rao, Vauhini Vara (W.W. Norton & Company)

The prize “is the first and only annual U.S. literary award recognizing the power of the written word to promote peace.” The two winners—one in the fiction category, and one in the non-fiction category—will be announced on October 10, 2023 and honored at a gala in Dayton OH on November 12, 2023. Each winner receives $10,000.

Sandra Cisneros was also announced as the recipient of the Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, given “to a writer whose body of work fosters peace and global understanding.” Prior recipients include Louise Erdrich and Margaret Atwood.
