Jennings Wins 2023 Compton Crook Award
The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) has announced the winner for the 2023 Compton Crook Award:

- The Ballad of Perilous Graves, Alex Jennings (Redhook)
- The Bone Orchard, Sara Mueller (Tor)
- Bluebird, Ciel Pierlot (Angry Robot)
- Daughter of the Moon Goddess, Sue Lynn Tan (Harper Voyager)
- The Genesis of Misery, Neon Yang (Tor)
The award honors the best first SF/fantasy/horror novel of the year, and “includes a framed award document and, for the novel’s author, a check for $1,000 and an invitation to be the Compton Crook Guest at Balticon for two years.”
The award will be presented at Balticon 57, to be held May 26-29, 2023 at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore MD. Selection is by vote of the BSFS membership.
