The 2022 Indie Book Awards Shortlist has been announced, with several titles and authors of genre interest:
Fiction

- Mrs Death Misses Death, Salena Godden (Canongate)
- Klara and the Sun, Kazuo Ishiguro (Knopf; Faber & Faber)
Non-Fiction
- The Comfort Book, Matt Haig (Penguin Life; Canongate)
Children’s Fiction
- The Week at World’s End, Emma Carroll (Faber)
- Frankenstiltskin: Fairy Tales Gone Bad, Joseph Coelho, illustrated by Freya Hartas (Walker)
- Escape Room, Christopher Edge (Delacorte; Nosy Crow)
- The Chime Seekers, Ross Montgomery (Walker)
- When I Was the Greatest, Jason Reynolds, Akhran Girmay illus. (Atheneum; Faber)
The shortlist also features a Picture Book category. The Indie Book Awards are for paperback books and are “curated exclusively by independent bookshops as part of Independent Bookshop Week (IBW, 18-25 June 2022).” Winners will be announced June 24, 2022 on the Mark Forrest show, which airs on Scala Radio.
