2021 Quantum Shorts Winner

Helping Hands” by Cora Valderas is the winner of the 2021 Quantum Shorts flash fiction competition. “Quantum et Circenses” by Sabrina Patsch took Runner-Up, and “Better, Faster, Stronger, Lonelier” by Álvaro Buendía won the People’s Choice prize.

“Quantum Shorts is an annual competition for creative work inspired by quantum physics.” It is presented by the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore in partnership with Scientific American and Nature. Shortlisted stories win $100, a one-year digital subscription to Scientific American, and a certificate. Winners and runners-up receive an engraved trophy and original digital artwork to illustrate their story. Additionally, the winner in the open category receives $1,500, the runner-up receives $1,000, and the People’s Choice winner receives $500.
