Quantum Shorts Flash Fiction Contest Shortlist
The shortlist for the 2021 Quantum Shorts flash fiction competition have been announced.
The ten shortlisted stories are:

- “Better, Faster, Stronger, Lonelier“, Álvaro Buendía
- “A Tale of Two Viruses“, Connie Chen
- “Possible Cats“, Michael Haiden
- “A World Apart“, Colm O’Shea
- “Quantum et Circenses“, Sabrina Patsch
- “Demons Hunt in Darkness“, S.G. Phillips
- “Powers of Observation“, Charmaine Smith
- “Helping Hands“, Cora Valderas
- “Quantum Luck” Brian Wells
“Quantum Shorts is an annual competition for creative work inspired by quantum physics.” It is presented by the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore in partnership with Scientific American and Nature. Shortlisted stories win $100, a one-year digital subscription to Scientific American, and a certificate. Winners and runners-up receive an engraved trophy and original digital artwork to illustrate their story. Additionally, the winner in the open category receives $1,500 and the runner-up receives $1,000.
