2020 Seiun Awards Nominees

The Science Fiction Fan Groups’ Association of Nippon (SFFAN) has announced the finalists for the 2020 Seiun Awards (the Japanese equivalent of the Hugo Awards), honoring the best original and translated works published last year in Japan.

  • Tokyo no Ko [Tokyo Nipper], Taiyo Fujii (Kadokawa Shoten)
  • Saki wo Yukumonotachi [The Ones Who Go Ahead], Chohei Kambayashi (Hayakawa)
  • HELLO WORLD, Mado Nozaki (Shueisha)
  • Daizetsumetsu Kyoryu Time Wars [Great Extinction Dinosaur Time Wars], Gengen Kusano (Hayakawa)

Best Japanese Story

There are also nominees in Multimedia, Comic, Artist, Non-Fiction, and “Free” (other) categories. The awards were to be presented at F-CON, the 59th Japan SF Convention, scheduled for August 22-23, 2020 in Fukushima prefecture. The convention has been postponed until March 13-14, 2021.
