More HWA Awards
The Horror Writers Association (HWA) has announced three more 2017 award recipients:
Angel Leigh McCoy is the winner of the 2017 Mentor of the Year Award. Introduced in 2015, the Award recognizes “a member who distinguishes herself in helping mentees, while serving in the HWA’s Mentor Program. The program seeks to help writers develop professional careers through the hands-on support of seasoned veteran writers.”
Kenneth W. Cain is the winner of the Silver Hammer Award, presented for outstanding service to HWA “in recognition of extraordinary volunteerism.”
The 2017 Richard Laymon President’s Award, “presented to a member who has served HWA in an exemplary manner and shown exceptional dedication to the organization,” will go to Greg Chapman. HWA president Lisa Morton said, “Greg’s extraordinary gifts as a graphic artist have been crucial in bringing HWA into the 21st century in terms of our visual impact and overall branding.”
McCoy, Cain, and Chapman join recipients of the Specialty Press Award announced last week. For the Bram Stoker final ballot, see our prior post.
The awards will be presented during StokerCon 2018, to be held March 1-4, 2018 at the Providence Biltmore in Providence RI. For more information, see the HWA website.
