Gibson Leaves Random House Children’s
President and publisher Chip Gibson is stepping down from the Random House Children’s division he has run for 10 years. He is being replaced by Barbara Marcus, who returns to her first full-time position since leaving her post as president of Scholastic in 2005. Marcus has acted as adviser to both Penguin Children’s and Macmillan Children’s, and has worked with Open Road’s children’s program, where she will remain on the advisory board.
Gibson is leaving Random House after 30 years with the publisher, having “accomplished almost everything he originally set out to do professionally.” He is taking an “extended break ” from work, and departs at the end of this week. Marcus will formally take over later this month.
