2013 Gulliver Travel Grant Winner
The Speculative Literature Foundation has announced that Daniel Jose Older is the winner of the 2013 Gulliver Travel Grant. The $800 grant is given to a writer to help cover expenses such as airfare, lodging, and other travel costs associated with non-academic research conducted by speculative fiction authors (in fiction, poetry, drama, or creative non-fiction). Grant will use the prize to travel to Cuba to research prisons where political prisoners were held for his novel The Book of Lost Saints.
Also shortlisted for the 2013 award were Akwaeke Emezi, Russell Nichols, Eden Robins, Oksana Marifioti, and Alina Rios. The winner was announced on November 26, 2013.
