Hodder to Buy Quercus

British publisher Hodder & Stoughton has made an offer to buy Quercus, the independent UK publisher that includes SF/F imprint Jo Fletcher Books. The Hachette-owned Hodder made a cash offer of £12.6 million, and the deal is expected to be finalized by late April 2014.

Tim Hely Hutchinson, CEO of Hachette UK, says Quercus will be a “distinct division” within Hodder if the deal is closed.

Hachette is in an acquisitive mood, having recently purchased Constable & Robinson for its Little, Brown UK division.
