There were an above average number of ties this month, in every category. Scepters by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. was the clear hardcover leader, though. New runner-up: Medicine Road, Charles de Lint (Subterranean). There were 64 nominees, up from 59 last month.

Singularity Sky by Charles Stross topped the paperback list by a wide margin. New runner-up: David Weber's Worlds of Honor #4: The Service of the Sword (Baen). Nominees: 86, up from 69.

The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-first Annual Collection, edited by Gardner Dozois, hit the top of the trade paperbacks, dropping Pattern Recognition to second place. Weapons of Choice by John Birmingham (Del Rey) was the new runner-up. Nominees: 51, down slightly from 54.

Star Wars: Medstar 1: Battle Surgeons led the media-related list. Nominees: 32, up from 27.

Forgotten Realms: The Lone Drow dominated the gaming-related titles for the second month in a row. Nominees: 24, up from 21.
