Fool's Fate won first place in the hardcover category, beating out Seduced by Moonlight by a single vote, a striking debut for both. New runner-up: Alphabet of Thorn by Patricia A. McKillip (Ace). We had 65 nominees, up from 54 last month.
Crossroads of Twilight took back its reign of the paperback category, unchallenged by the other titles. New runner-up: Kris Longknife: Mutineer, by Mike Shepherd (Ace). Nominees: 81, down slightly from 83.
Pattern Recognition trounced the competition, breaking through the Tolkien barrier to take first in the trade paperback category. New runner-up: Max Barry's Jennifer Government (Vintage). Nominees: 45, down one from last month.
Star Wars: Survivor's Quest had no close competition in the media-related titles. Nominees: 23, down from 28.
Halo: First Strike maintained its strong lead at the top of the gaming-related category for a third consecutive month. Nominees: 19, down from 21.
