SFFH on General Lists

Tolkien titles are moving back up the lists, following the DVD release of the first The Lord of the Rings film and in anticipation of the theatrical release of the second. The three volumes of the trilogy, and The Hobbit, each jumped 60 or more places since last week on the combined USA Today list, while at Amazon, the mass market paperback set of all four books now ranks #3, the trade paperback set #11.
Rowling titles remain strong, at least on children's lists. Though the paperback of Goblet of Fire was out last week, the hardcover remains at #1 on New York Times's children's chapter book list.
Other than those, there are not a lot of genre books ranking on general lists. Adams is gone, King is gone; Auel remains on several lists, but her book is of marginal genre interest. A couple Star Wars book rank, this week by Stover and Watson. The couple bright spots are Neil Gaiman's Coraline, still on 2 lists, and Philip K. Dick's UK Minority Report tie-in, still ranked #6 on Amazon UK's paperback fiction list.
This week's BookSense and Amazon US rankings show changes from two weeks ago; they were not updated last week.

Columns show ranks on lists from, respectively, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The Bookseller, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, Amazon.com (fiction lists), and Amazon UK (fiction lists). All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
