- * _The Light Princess (Shambhala/Barefoot Books 1-56957-903-2, Sep ’93 [Oct ’93], $6.00, 131pp, hc, cover by Arthur Hughes) Classic fairy tale that originally appeared in MacDonald’s adult novel Adela Cathcart (Hurst & Blackett 1864). It was excerpted in the collection Dealing with the Fairies (Strahan 1867). This text is that of the 1867 version, with colorized reproductions of Arthur Hughes’ black-an-white illustrations for that edition. This has been published as a stand-alone volume previously, although the initial edition has been impossible to determine. There is a preface by series editor Jonathan Cott. This is a miniature (8x12 cm.) book.
