All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

The new Tolkien book, The Children of Húrin (Houghton Mifflin), debuts strongly if not unexpectedly on the print lists this week, at #1 or #2 on all five of them. In paperback, the trade edition of Cormac McCarthy's The Road remains strong on the same five print lists, at #1 on the four with a trade paperback category and #3 on the combined USA Today list. Three new hardcovers ranks highly on various Amazon lists today: Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policeman's Union (HarperCollins) is #7 on Amazon; Kelly Armstrong's No Humans Involved (Bantam Spectra) is #41 on Amazon Canada; and Charlaine Harris' All Together Dead (Ace) is #19 on Amazon. J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, to be published in July, remains #1 on the three Amazon lists this week.
