J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince debuts at #1 on 2 print lists this week -- from San Francisco Chronicle and USA Today; it hasn't yet appeared on the lists from New York Times (which will rank it on its children's list only), Publishers Weekly (ditto), or Washington Post. It continues to rank #1 on the 4 online bookseller lists compiled here (including Australian Dymocks, on its children's list), as it has for several months.
Publication of the new book has boosted sales of the earlier Harry Potter books. Oddly, Amazon US and Amazon Canada show boosted sales of hardcover editions, while USA Today and Amazon UK have paperback editions returning to their lists.
In other news, Origin in Death, the latest of J.D. Robb's series of near-future crime thrillers, debuts on 4 print lists this week. Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian continues to rank high on all lists -- no lower than #11.
