SFFH on General Lists

A day after news that J.K. Rowling delivered the manuscript of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to her publishers, who have in turn scheduled it for release on July 16, 2005, the book ranks #1 on both the American and Canadian Amazon sites. (It's not ranked on the UK Amazon.) Scholastic apparently hasn't assigned it an ISBN yet; Amazon is tracking it with a product id code. And of course, no cover images are yet available.
Meanwhile, Michael Crichton's State of Fear (HarperCollins) debuts strongly on the 5 published lists compiled here, as high as #1 at Washington Post. And Dean Koontz's Life Expectancy (Bantam) debuts on 3 of the published lists, as high as #8 at New York Times.

All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats, and BookScan, which combines hardcovers and paperbacks within lists for fiction, nonfiction, and children's. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.
Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.
