Neal Stephenson's The Confusion firmly trounced the other titles in the hardcover category, stepping up from second to first place. New runner-up: The Child Goddess by Louise Marley (Ace). We had 64 nominees, up from 51 last month.
In paperbacks, The War of the Flowers took the field, with Red Thunder and Dead Witch Walking vying for second. New runner-up: Trudi Canavan's Novice (Roc). Nominees: 85, up from 78.
Pattern Recognition holds first place in the trade paperback category for the fourth month in a row. New runner-up: Midnight Tides by Steven Erikson (Import). Nominees: 51, up from 49.
The Chronicles of Riddick novel took the media-related category with a strong lead in its debut month, with Star Wars: Shatterpoint following in a close second. Nominees: 33, up from 30 last month.
Halo: First Strike prevails for the sixth month straight, with Halo: The Flood, in its eleventh appearance on the list, taking second. Nominees: 30, well up from last month.
