In its first month on the hardcover list, Cryptonomicon came in at the top for most booksellers, but the Goodkind also did quite well. New runner-up: Patriarch's Hope by David Feintuch (Warner Aspect). We had 79 nominees, to 75 last month.
For paperbacks, David Brin and Harry Turtledove both are clear leaders, while Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash made it back on the list after four years(!), presumably thanks to his current tour for Cryptonomicon. The new runner-up is Emperor of Dawn by Steve White (Baen). Nominees: 88, down from 95.
Will Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow eventually match Bradley's Mists of Avalon on the trade paperback list? It has now racked up an impressive 14-month showing (probably with help from the sequel as it rose to #1). New runner-up: Wrapt in Crystal by Sharon Shinn (Ace). Nominees: 64, down from a whopping 85 last time.
To no one's surprise, spin-offs from the new Star Wars prequel dominate the media list, with the Brooks novelization well on top. The new runner-up is STNG: Ship of the Line by Diane Carey (Pocket). We had 39 nominees, up from 33.
For gaming, there was no new runner-up. Nominees: 23, to last month's 25.
