Lois McMaster Bujold tops the hardcovers, with a big lead; there was no new runner-up. Nominees: 83, down a bit from last month's 89.

Harry Turtledove, Anne McCaffrey, and L.E. Modesitt, Jr. all have books on both the hardcovers and paperback lists. For paperbacks, the new runner-up is Nightseer by Laurell K. Hamilton (Roc). We had 108 nominees, to last month's 100.

In trade paperbacks, The Mists of Avalon held on at #5, while Russell's The Sparrow is the other holdover (joining her new title in hardcovers). The new runner-up is Samurai Cat Goes to Hell by Mark E. Rogers (Tor). We had 66 nominees, down from last month's 74.

For media tie-ins, a new edition of the Hambly returns to the list, closely followed by the first of two new Star Trek books. New runner-up: Highlander: Shadow of Obsession by Rebecca Neason (Warner Aspect). There were 45 nominees, just down from 46 last time.

For gaming-related books, Forgotten Realms and DragonLance dominate the list. We had 23 nominees, down from 25 last month.
