The table shows the current rank of each book and the change since last week, where:

x no longer on list (number of x's: weeks off list)

All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Blood Noir (Berkley), 16th novel in her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series, debuts impressively on print lists week -- despite poor reader reviews, but as predicted. It ranks #1 on fiction hardcover lists from New York Times, Washington Post, and Publishers Weekly, and #2 on the combined USA Today list.

In fact, genre titles rank one-two-three on three of this week's print lists: Hamilton's novel is followed by Stephenie Meyer's The Host and Dean Koontz' Odd Hours in second and third positions on the NYT and PW lists, third and second respectively on the WP list.

But none of those titles rank in San Francisco, where, instead, Salman Rushdie's The Enchantress of Florence debuts at #2 on the fiction hardcover list. Elsewhere Rushdie barely places; #19 at NYT, #136 at USA Today.

A paperback original from Eos, Vicki Pettersson's The Touch of Twilight, third in her Sign of the Zodiac series, debuts on paperback lists at NYT and USA Today.

Finally, Cory Doctorow's Little Brother creeps up a notch to #8 in its fourth week on the New York Times children's chapter book list.
