American Gods held onto the number one hardcover position for the third month in a row; The Curse of Chalion was only a few points behind. Jan Siegel's The Dragon Charmer (Del Rey) was the new runner-up. We had 69 nominees, way down from 82 last month.
The Hobbit topped the paperback category, comfortably ahead of the other nominees. New runner-up: Brother John by Rutledge Etheridge (Ace). Nominees: 99, down from 102.
The Mists of Avalon headed trade paperbacks for the sixth month straight, still leading the Tolkien titles by a wide margin. The Year's Best Science Fiction: Eighteenth Annual Collection edited by Gardner Dozois (St. Martin's) was the new runner-up. Nominees: 55, one more than last month.
Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Edge of Victory II: Rebirth clobbered the media-related competition by more than 100 points. Nominees: 36, well up from 27.
Forgotten Realms: Servant of the Shard was the gaming-related favorite for the second month straight. Nominees: 28, the same as last month.
