2023 Salam Award Opens

The 2023 Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction is open, and the judges for 2023 have been announced: Samit Basu, Mohammed Hanif, and Arley Sorg.

The annual award is open to original fiction of 10,000 words or fewer written in English by authors who “must either be currently residing in Pakistan, or be of Pakistani birth/descent.” Submissions are open through July 31, 2023.

The winning story will receive Rs 50,000 and publication on the award website, as well as “review by an established literary agent for market guidance and possible representation” and “an editorial review by a professional editor for critique and potential publication in a multi-award winning science fiction magazine.” Last year’s winner was Saher Husnain for “Children Always Come Home”, and the judges were Aamer Hussain, Shiv Ramdas, and Paul Tremblay.
