2022 NBA Young People’s Literature Longlist

The ten-title longlist for the National Book Awards (NBA) in the Young People’s Literature category has been announced, including the following titles and authors of genre interest.

  • The Ogress and the Orphans, Kelly Barnhill (Algonquin Young Readers)
  • A Thousand Steps into Night, Traci Chee (Clarion)
  • Self-Made Boys: A Great Gatsby Remix, Anna-Marie McLemore (Feiwel & Friends)
  • All My Rage, Sabaa Tahir (Razorbil)
  • Maizy Chen’s Last Chance, Lisa Yee (Random House Books for Young Readers)

Publishers submitted 296 books for the awards; the judges are Becky Albertalli, Joseph Bruchac, Meghan Dietsche Goel, Jewell Parker Rhodes (chair), and Lilliam Rivera.

The longlists for the Fiction and Translated Literature categories are forthcoming. Winners in all categories will be announced at the National Book Awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. For more, see the official announcement.
