2022 Carnegie Medal Winner

Locus Magazine, Science Fiction Fantasy

October, October by Katya Balen, illustrated by Angela Harding (Bloomsbury) has won the 2022 Carnegie Medal for best children’s book. Balen’s previous work includes Maggie and the Moonbird (Bloomsbury). The shortlist featured a number of authors and works of genre interest.

The awards are presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). The winners were announced in a ceremony at the British Library in London, UK. Balen will receive £500 worth of books to donate to local libraries, a golden medal, and a £5,000 Colin Mears Award cash prize.
