Spufford Wins 2022 Encore Award

Light Perpetual by Francis Spufford (Faber & Faber; Scribner) won the 2022 Encore Award, given by the Royal Society of Literature (RSL) to the best second novel of the year. The High House by Jessie Greengrass (Swift; Scribner) was also on the five-title shortlist. The winner receives £10,000 and each of the four other finalists receive £500.

The judges for 2022 were Sian Cain, Paul Muldoon, and Nikesh Shukla.
