2022 Salam Award Opens

The 2022 Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction is open, and the judges for 2022 have been announced: Aamer Hussain, Shiv Ramdas, and Paul Tremblay, with Wendy N. Wagner as Reviewing Editor.

The annual award is open to original fiction of 10,000 words or fewer written in English by authors who must be “currently residing in Pakistan, or be of Pakistani birth/descent.” Submissions are open through July 31, 2022.

According to the website, the winning story will receive PKR 50,000 and publication on the award website, as well as being reviewed “by an established literary agent for market guidance and possible representation” plus “editorial review by a professional editor for critique and potential publication in a multi-award winning science fiction magazine.” The Salam Award announced on Twitter the addition of more rewards: 1st runner up will receive PKR 30,000 and 2nd runner up will receive PKR 20,000, plus an invite-only speculative fiction workshop and mentorship opportunities for all three winners.
