Brown and Ryse Win Barbara Neely Grant

Mystery Writers of America (MWA) announced Jonathan Brown and Necole Ryse as the winners of the inaugural Barbara Neely Grant. The grant is awarded to “Black crime fiction writers in [Barbara Neely’s] name; one for an already published author, and another for one just getting started in publishing.”

The judges were Austin Camacho, Christopher Chambers, and Faye Snowden. The award is $2,000, to be used in “any aspect of their career.”
