Worldcon 2023 Site Selection Open

DisCon III has opened site selection voting for the 2023 World Science Fiction Convention. The two active bids are Chengdu, China and Winnipeg, Canada. Memphis TN had planned a bid, but withdrew earlier this month, citing uncertainties surrounding the pandemic.

Voting is open only to attending, supporting, or virtual members of DisCon III, and requires an additional $50 fee, “called the Advance Supporting Membership… which automatically gives the voter a supporting membership in the 2023 Worldcon. This money goes to the winning Worldcon bid regardless of who wins or how you voted.”

Mailed ballots are due by Tuesday, December 7, 2021, and email ballots by Tuesday, December 14, 2021. In-person voting at DisCon will end 6 p.m. EST on Friday, December 17, 2021.

For more information on the bids and how to vote, see their website.
