World Fantasy Convention Updates

The upcoming World Fantasy Convention, to be held November 4-7, 2021 at the Hôtel Bonaventure Montréal in Québec, Canada, has announced several changes.

Guest of Honor Nisi Shawl will not be attending in person, but will take part virtually.

Julie Czerneda has joined as a Special Guest.

The convention will have a significant online component:

Given this being the Age of Covid, we have taken steps to turn World Fantasy Convention (WFC) 2021 in Montreal into a hybrid convention. WFC 2021 in Montreal will have both physical and virtual elements to it.

To access the virtual elements, we are announcing a virtual membership. This allows those who cannot travel to Montréal a chance to see some of the programming items. A virtual membership grants access to all of our virtual offerings, including panels, readings, virtual signings, and assisted access to our dealers’ room. A virtual book bag will also be on offer.

Those who have an attending membership automatically have a virtual membership. Supporting memberships can be upgraded to a virtual membership for the price difference.

The convention is also reducing the cost of Dealers tables by C$75. There will be on-site testing available (for a fee) for attendees crossing the border after the con.

For more details and complete information, see Progress Report 3.

[Edited to correct: John Picacio will be attending WFC 2021 in person as artist guest of honour. 10/14/21]
