Erdrich Wins Pulitzer Prize

Locus Magazine, Science Fiction FantasyThe Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich (Harper) won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in the Fiction category. The award, given for “distinguished fiction published in book form during the year by an American author, preferably dealing with American life,” comes with a prize of $15,000.

The judges called the winner a “majestic, polyphonic novel about a community’s efforts to halt the proposed displacement and elimination of several Native American tribes in the 1950s, rendered with dexterity and imagination.”
