Tan Wins Greenaway Medal

Artist Shaun Tan won the Kate Greenaway Medal for outstanding illustration for his work Tales from the Inner City (Walker). The award was announced live on BBC Front Row on June 17, 2020.

“Australian author and illustrator Tan, who is of Australian, Chinese and Malay heritage, is the first illustrator of colour to win the Kate Greenaway Medal.” Winners receive £500 worth of books to donate to their local library, a commissioned golden medal, and the £5,000 Colin Mears Award cash prize.
