2020 Forest of Reading Award Nominees
The Ontario Library Association has announced the 2020 Forest of Reading Award Nominees, including the following titles of genre interest:
Silver Birch Fiction Award (Grades 3-6)
- A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying, Kelley Armstrong (Puffin Canada)
- Sweep, Jonathan Auxier (Abrams)
- Oculum, Philippa Dowding (DCB)
- Wings of Olympus, Kallie George (HarperCollins)
- The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane, Julia Nobel (Sourcebooks Young Readers)
Red Maple Award (Fiction for Grades 7-8)
- Call of the Wraith, Kevin Sands (Aladdin)
- The Light Between Worlds, Laura E. Weymouth (HarperTeen)
White Pine Award (Fiction for High Schoolers)
- Crown of Feathers, Nicki Pau Preto (Simon Pulse)
The Forest of Reading is “Canada’s largest recreational reading program” and aims to “encourage a love of reading in people of all ages” and “celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators.”
Winners are determined by a vote of more than 270,000 students across Canada. They will be announced June 16, 2020 as part of the online Forest of Reading Festival hosted by CBC Books.
