2020 PEN America Winners

Winners of the 2020 PEN America Literary Awards were announced March 2, 2020 in an awards ceremony held at the Town Hall in New York City NY.

Where Reasons End by Yiyun Li (Random House) won the $75,000 PEN/Jean Stein Book Award given “to the author of a book-length work of any genre for its originality, merit, and impact, and that has broken new ground by reshaping the boundaries of its form and signaling strong potential for lasting influence.” Judges for the award were Marilyn Chin, Garth Greenwell, Rebecca Makkai, Michael Schaub, and William T. Vollmann.

Tom Stoppard received the $25,000 PEN/Mike Nichols Writing for Performance Award given “to a writer whose work exemplifies excellence and influence in the world of theater, television, or film.”
