2020 Carnegie and Greenaway Medal Shortlists
The shortlists for the Carnegie Medal for best children’s book and the Kate Greenaway Medal for best illustrations in a children’s book have been announced. Titles of genre interest follow.
Carnegie Medal
- Nowhere on Earth, Nick Lake (Hachette)
- Lampie, Annet Schaap (Pushkin)
- Voyages in the Underworld of Orpheus Black, Marcus Sedgwick & Julian Sedgwick (Walker)
- Girl. Boy. Sea., Chris Vick (Head of Zeus)
Greenaway Medal
- Mary and Frankenstein, Linda Bailey, illustrated by Júlia Sardà (Andersen)
- The Iron Man, Ted Hughes, illustrated by Chris Mould (Faber & Faber)
- Tales from the Inner City, Shaun Tan (Walker)
The awards are presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). The winners will be announced June 17, 2020 in a ceremony at the British Library in London, UK. Winners receive £500 worth of books to donate to local libraries, a golden medal, and a £5,000 Colin Mears Award cash prize.
