Ward Wins 2018 DUFF

Locus Magazine, Science Fiction FantasyMarlee Jane Ward has won the Down Under Fan Fund (DUFF), to travel from Australasia to Worldcon 76. The fund is currently administered by Paul Weimer in North America and Clare McDonald-Sims in Australia. DUFF is open to anyone who has been “active in science fiction fandom” before the start of the previous year. Candidates for a northbound trip must be residents of Australia or New Zealand. Weimer says

Delegates are chosen as active members of the SF community whom fans on the other side of the Pacific would like to meet. The delegate travels as much as possible, makes friends, radiates goodwill, and becomes the administrator until replaced by the next delegate. There is an expectation (not always fulfilled!) that delegates will write a trip report during or after their trip. Delegates’ trip reports are sold to support the Fund.

Worldcon 76 will be held August 16-20, 2018 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose CA.

For more information, see the DUFF website.

While you are here, please take a moment to support Locus with a one-time or recurring donation. We rely on reader donations to keep the magazine and site going, and would like to keep the site paywall free, but WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT to continue quality coverage of the science fiction and fantasy field.
