Inaugural TA First Translation Prize Shortlist

The Queue by Basma Abdel Aziz (Melville House), translated by Elisabeth Jaquette, is among the six shortlisted works for the inaugural TA First Translation Prize.

The Translators Association (TA) First Translation Prize was founded by Daniel Hahn with his winnings from the International Dublin Literary Award and is given by the Society of Authors “for a debut literary translation into English published in the UK.” Entries for the 2018 prize must have been published between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. Judges for 2018 are Daniel Hahn, Rosalind Harvey, and Bill Swainson. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on March 1, 2018 at the British Library in London. The winning translator and editors will share a £2,000 prize.

For more information, including the complete shortlist, see the Society of Authors website.
