Inaugural YA Book Prize Winner

The first YA Book Prize winner has been announced, presented by the Bookseller.

The winner, and nominees of genre interest, are:

  • Only Ever Yours, Louise O’Neill (Quercus)
  • A Song for Ella Grey, David Almond (Hodder Children’s Books)
  • Say Her Name, James Dawson (Hot Key Books)
  • Half Bad, Sally Green (Penguin)
  • The Ghosts of Heaven, Marcus Sedgwick (Orion)

Open to UK and Irish authors and publishers, the award includes a £2,000 prize. On the We Love This Book website, chair of judges Charlotte Eyre says, “Ultimately we chose 10 books that we loved and hopefully we have reflected the diversity there is in UK and Irish YA writing.” For more, including the complete list of nominees, see the Bookseller website.
