Of three significant debuts this week, the leader by a hair is Sherrilyn Kenyon's Devil May Cry (St. Martin's), 11th volume in her popular "Dark Hunters" series. It debuts on 4 of the 5 print lists compiled here, ranking #2 on 3 of them: New York Times, Washington Post, and Publishers Weekly. William Gibson's Spook Country (Putnam) debuts on all 5 print lists compiled here, though as high as #2 only on the San Francisco list. And Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson's Sandworms of Dune (Tor) also debuts on all 5 lists, peaking only as high as #3 at Publishers Weekly.
J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows debuts on Publishers Weekly's children's list, but apparently is not to appear at all on any New York Times list. NYT has long had a separate list for Series Books on its Children's Books page, and no longer lists separate volumes from such series on its Chapter Books or Paperback Books lists. Harry Potter does lead this week's Series Books list.
