All lists rank hardcovers and paperbacks separately, except for the USA Today list, which is a single list combining fiction and nonfiction in all formats. Dates shown are posted dates, except those in parentheses, which are dates compiled. New York Times posts its list one week in advance of print publication.

Note that some sources do not compile paperback bestsellers, and some exclude YA books (like the Harry Potter series) from their hardcover and paperback fiction lists.

The US edition of Raymond E. Feist's Flight of the Nighthawks (Eos) debuts this week as a runner-up on New York Times' fiction hardcover list, at #26, and ranks #127 on the combined USA Today list. Last year's UK edition ranked on Amazon's UK list for several weeks last Fall. Other debuts: Kelley Armstrong's Broken debuts on both the US and UK Amazon lists this week, a paperback original in both countries. David Mitchell's associational Black Swan Green (Random House) debuts at #3 on San Francisco Chronicle's fiction hardcover list, and ranks #69 on today's Amazon Canada list.
