Spectrum Awards Winners

Winners and runners-up of the 12th annual Spectrum competition were determined in Kansas City, MO on the weekend February 25, 2005, from nearly 4000 works of science fiction and fantastic-themed art, by jurists Jon Foster [artist], Irene Gallo [art director Tor & Forge Books], Anita Kunz [artist], Karen Palinko [sculptor], David Stevenson [art director Del Rey Books/Random House], and William Stout [artist]. (Art works created by jurors were excluded from consideration for awards; art directors of pieces considered for awards were excluded from discussions and decisions from the category in which said works appeared.) The artists will receive a Spectrum Award sculpted by Joseph DeVito which rests on a base sculpted by Tom Banwell with either a gold or silver engraved plate bearing the recipients name.

All of the art selected by the judges will be included in Spectrum 12: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, edited by Cathy and Arnie Fenner, to be published by Underwood Books in October, 2005.
